Appointments
Routine appointments
We operate an appointment only system. To request a non-urgent appointment at Hawthorn Medical Centre, please click the above link to SystmConnect. This is subject to availability – once we are at capacity, you will receive an email informing you of this.
Please be aware that currently appointments can only be booked by telephone or by using SystmConnect. We do not book appointments via email or letters.
The surgery is open for consulting at the following times:
Monday: 8:00am to 7:30pm
Tuesday: 8:00am to 6:30pm
Wednesday: 8:00am to 6:30pm
Thursday: 8:00am to 7:30pm
Friday: 8:00am to 6:30pm
Weekend: closed
We would encourage you to consult with the same doctor whenever possible as this helps them to get to know you better.
Please telephone Monday – Friday at 8:30am for a same day appointment (these are not emergency appointments). The same day appointments are undertaken by our team of GPs and nurse practitioners who are able to assess, diagnose and treat patients.
If you are late for your appointment you may not be seen. This is at the discretion of the clinician.
Cancelling your appointment
If you find that you are unable to keep an appointment, please let us know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so that we can re-allocate the appointment time to another patient. You can cancel your appointment online (if you have access to online services), via SMS text message, or via telephone (through an automated system).
If it is less than 1 hour until your appointment time, please call the surgery reception on (01793) 536541 to cancel your appointment. Non-attendance for appointments will be monitored.
Home Visits
If you need a domiciliary (home) visit, please request between 8:30am and 11:00am.
A doctor or ACP (Home Visiting Clinician) may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.
Home visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Practice.
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP.
